Rent Your Roof, Earn Income and Get Your Bill Subsidized
We will rent your roof space and then pay you rent for the privilege. This triggers a long-term source of your income. You can then choose to use this income to:
contra and make cheaper, your current electricity bill OR enjoy your income as is.
For you, your electricity consumption is offset by the rental income you generate for yourself. Wider consumers take a share of the collective renewable energy output we produce across multiple roof spaces we rent.Together, therefore, we help the population reduce our overall electricity cost and help eradicate power poverty by making electricity affordable to all.
It’s simple. There are no upfront costs and no hassle—just a sustainable, smart way to power your home.Put your roof to work, for you.
Why Now
CREAM is a brand-new, TNB-led program that operates under the Aggregated Virtual Net Energy Metering (AVNEM) scheme
CREAM invites you to benefit from a shared renewable energy system without needing you to pay for your own installations.
How Does CREAM Work?
It starts with the renewable energy developer or aggregator setting up a renewable energy plant. The plant could be either a large rooftop or a ground-mounted system. Consumers such as homeowners, businesses, or factories like you can subscribe to a portion of the generated energy.
It operates under the Aggregated Virtual Net Energy Metering (AVNEM) scheme, allowing you to benefit from a shared renewable energy system without needing individual installations. Thus, the consumption is offset by the sharing of the renewable energy output, reducing your overall electricity costs.
The Benefits to You
As one of the participants in CREAM, you will enjoy lower electricity bills through renewable energy credits, zero upfront investment in personal solar panels, and contributing to the country’s renewable energy targets. The initiative supports the national goal of achieving 31% renewable energy in the power mix by 2025 and 40% by 2035.
How Subscription Size Impacts Your Savings
In this context a subscription refers to a payment plan where you pay a recurring monthly fee to access the amount of electricity you decide, without having to own or install the generation system themselves. This model provides predictable energy costs and promotes clean energy use.
In CREAM’s shared solar program, as a household, your savings will depend on how much renewable energy you choose to subscribe to.
When you participate, you select how many kilowatts (kW) of solar energy you want from the shared system—for example, 5kW, 10kW, or more. The amount you subscribe to determines how much clean energy is credited to your electricity bill each month. The income you generate via roof rental offsets your current electricity bill, saving you the difference.
The key advantage is that these savings grow in direct proportion to the increased electricity you subscribe to. This is because you will be using more of your electricity needs from renewable sources. This is a flexible way to cut costs while supporting clean energy.
All this, without needing to install or maintain any solar panels yourself.

I’m interested. Is the registration process difficult?
Here’s how the registration process works:
First, fill out our “registration of interest” form with some brief and quick details about yourself and your home. Further next steps are unclear and yet to be defined by the Government.
We expect that the next steps will include a visit to the location of your roof space to assess the eligibility and suitability of your roof and its related structures.
Bright Energy will liaise with authorities to progress the process and certifications required before we sign a roof rental agreement, initiating you as a “roof-lord”.
Once your application is approved, construction begins, and you can start earning.
